Kuniklo Named Spirit of Enterprise 2012 Semi-finalist

Kuniklo Corporation was named among 20 semi-finalists for the ASU W.P. Carey School of Business Spirit of Enterprise awards.   We are honored to be named among the Arizona businesses that are making such positive impacts.  We owe it to our clients, supporters, and friends who have helped us grow over the last few years.

Three years ago, we aimed to be a part of Arizona’ economic recovery by having direct involvement in job creation, small business use, and competition for federal aid in the construction industry.   We made a quantum leap, believing that we could grow a business out of the expertise of a single-owner into a company which would:

  • Leverage great employees with training and technology
  • Deliver quality services consistently
  • Help contractors and agencies compete for federal aid projects

Over the past few years, we have worked alongside some of the best project teams to design, test, and implement tools to make compliance with federal funding requirements easier to achieve.  We recognize that our success is driven by helping our clients excel in their pursuits.

All semi-finalists are invited to present their company story to a panel of judges who will select the finalists.  Award winners will be announced at the awards luncheon on November 1st at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa, 5350 E. Marriott Drive, Phoenix.

The W. P. Carey School of Business Spirit of Enterprise awards recognize companies in Arizona that demonstrate ethics, energy and excellence in entrepreneurship. There are several criteria to be considered for the award. Companies must be a for-profit enterprise in business for at least four years, have three or more full-time employees and have the majority of its operations within the state.  This is the 16th year of the awards program.

AASHTO National Civil Rights Conference, Detroit, MI

Kuniklo key staff members attended the AASHTO National Civil Rights Conference in Detroit, MI, August 5-8.  The conference provided updates, ideas, and dialogue on civil rights programs implemented by state DOTs.

The use of technology to leverage diminished resources for the DBE Supportive Services programs seems to be a growing trend.  OJT and ADA programs are responding to the needs of returning veterans and persons with service-related disabilities.  Industry partners are joining DOTs to build the future workforce for transportation builders and designers.

The AASHTO National Civil Rights Conference is held every two years.  The 2014 conference is slated for Phoenix, Arizona.

AASHTO is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. It represents all five transportation modes: air, highways, public transportation, rail, and water. Its primary goal is to foster the development, operation, and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system.

Get ready for HUD 60002 Reporting!

There is still time to organize a good Section 3 report!

HUD recipients will submit HUD 60002 Section 3 Summary Report  by January 10, 2012.  This report summarizes the employment, training, and contracting  opportunities made available to low- and very-low income persons through HUD-funded programs in calendar year 2011.
With HUD 6002 reports due in less than a month, there is still time to organize your Section 3 covered activities and request supporting documentation from your project teams and grant awardees.
More so than ever, it is important to report the economic impact of HUD program funds.  Reporting all zeros is unacceptable in our current economy, unless there was no contracting, training or hiring during the year.
Included below are eight steps to help you organize and report t your 2011 Section 3 activities.
